Born Mary Campbell on December 5th, 1954 to Samuel and Deanna Campbell, Mary grew up a hunter. That is until she met John Winchester and fell in love. John was innocent in the way of the supernatural and Mary didn't want to involve him in that life, so she hide it from him. She tried to live an uncomplicated life with John. Unfortunately, there were complications and Mary had to make a deal with the Yellow-Eyed Demon in 1973 to save John from dying.
John and Mary move on from that moment, getting married and giving birth to two boys whom they named after her parents. The first, Dean Winchester (January 24, 1979) and then Sam Winchester (May 2, 1983). Her deal with the Yellow-Eyed Demon came back to haunt her when Sam was six months-old. Mary walked into the nursery to find the demon doing something to Sam. She tried to stop the demon, but ended up being killed instead - bursting into flames on the ceiling above Sam's crib.
Mary Campbell was born December 5, 1954 to a hunter couple Samuel and Deanna, who had not planned for her birth but regarded her as a "blessing" regardless. Mary also had a brother. His last known location was Greenville, Illinois, but his status is unknown. The family lived in Lawrence, Kansas.
Mary hated hunting; she sought to have a normal life so that she could be safe and raise a family. This caused tension between her and her father. When she fell in love with John Winchester, Samuel did not approve of their relationship because he believed John to be a naive civilian. Though Mary loved John, she did not tell him about the hunting life.
While reluctantly working a case involving a demon named Azazel, Mary and Samuel inadvertently drew Azazel's attention to Mary due to her skills and courage. Mary was terrified by the demon's interest in her. She spent time with John to try to clear her head. While he was in the middle of proposing to her, her father Samuel, who was possessed by Azazel, interrupted. He killed John then revealed that he had also killed her parents, devastating Mary. He then pressured her into making a deal for John's resurrection and her having a normal life; in exchange, she granted permission for him to enter her house in ten years.
Mary accepts and later married John and retired from hunting. The couple lived together at 485 Robintree.
At the Inn
Mary is coping relatively okay with having been dead and missing so many years of her sons' lives. She struggles from time to time, but often goes for hunts and jogs to try and keep her mind occupied. Meeting James Hathaway has helped a little and she enjoyed spending time with the children at the inn. She knows she might be projecting her need to mother, but she can't seem to stop herself. She's particularly close to River Tam who is basically like her daughter, as well as Peter Parker, Liz Parker, and Miguel Rivera. She's grown quite fond of Gartrett Corbie as well.
